Decades of Bait Making Experience
Eclipse Baits has its roots firmly planted in the history of modern carp bait manufacture.
Founded in 2006 by Dave Poxon, Eclipse Baits was created following decades of experience in carp fishing, bait development and commercial bait production. Dave’s involvement in bait manufacture stretches back to the early 1990s, when he was one of the early pioneers offering commercially rolled boilies to anglers.
Before establishing Eclipse Baits, Dave was involved in the manufacture of bait for some of the biggest names in carp fishing, including the Rod Hutchinson and Kevin Maddocks ranges, with finished boilies being distributed throughout the UK and Europe.
His experience wasn’t limited to the bait factory either.
In 1999, Dave Poxon and fishing partner Mark Redding won the World Carp Classic at Lac de Madine, establishing Dave’s credentials not only as a bait maker but as an accomplished carp angler.
Eclipse Baits Is Born
After years spent developing, manufacturing and testing carp bait, Dave founded Eclipse Baits in 2006.
The idea was simple: combine years of practical angling experience with an extensive knowledge of ingredients, attractors, additives and bait manufacturing to produce effective carp bait at sensible prices.
Over the years Eclipse developed an extensive range of boilies, hookbaits, liquids, powders and attractors, while also manufacturing bait for other companies.
Products such as the now well-established Virus have accounted for countless carp both in the UK and abroad, while continual development has resulted in ranges including Cherry Virus, Supreme Cream and Monster Crab.
Innovation has always been an important part of Eclipse too, from specialist liquids and powdered hookbaits to the huge number of combinations available through our Create Your Own Boilie service.
The Next Generation – Kyle Poxon
Today, Eclipse Baits has entered the next chapter of its story.
The business is now owned and run by Kyle Poxon, continuing the Poxon name and the bait-making knowledge and experience behind Eclipse.
Kyle hasn’t simply stepped into the business as its new owner. He grew up around fishing and bait manufacture and has been involved in testing, producing and developing Eclipse products for many years.
An experienced carp angler himself, Kyle has caught numerous UK thirties along with carp exceeding 40lb, while playing an integral role in the production and development of the Eclipse range.
That hands-on experience means the principles established by Dave remain at the heart of the company.
Same Heritage. New Chapter.
While ownership has passed from Dave to Kyle Poxon, what Eclipse Baits stands for hasn’t changed.
We remain committed to producing quality bait using carefully selected ingredients, continually testing and developing our products rather than simply following trends.
Whether it’s an established favourite such as Virus, one of our newer ranges, a specialised hookbait or something completely individual through our Create Your Own Boilie service, the objective remains the same:
To produce bait that anglers can take to the lake with complete confidence.

Now, under Kyle’s ownership, we’re proud to continue that legacy and take Eclipse Baits into its next generation.
